Just a few hours left until we say Goodbye to 2006, and Hello to 2007.
I got back to Bellingham yesterday afternoon, and spent the whole day working on the outline for JF’s website stuff - he wanted to work again today, but I turned him down because it is New Years Eve. He’ll probably be up here most days until school starts, or until he finds a replacement. Hopefully he’ll find a replacement soon; I’m growing weary of this project. It wouldn’t be so bad if I could do the work on my own, but it loses quite a bit of fun having the boss sitting next to you looking over your shoulder the whole time, not to mention that I’m not buying into his big plan (which is basically a glorified Pyramid Scheme involving him, “Coast to Coast AM,” Oprah, the Dalai Lama, and others all working to avert the end of the world, which will happen in 2008 unless we can stop it).
Aside from the job aspect, I had a wonderful winter break. I took the train down to Federal Way, spent some time with the family and the cats, had a lovely Christmas (I got a small pile of presents including a sweet pirate sword that lights up and makes “swoosh” and “clang” noises, a bunch of claymation clay that will be used to animate something soon, some books, a couple movies, and other goodies, and a check from my grandpa that will be spent on things-yet-to-be-decided), had fun going to the new gym they just built in Federal Way (at which point I realized how out-of-shape I’ve become after not having gone to the WWU gym this past quarter), and enjoyed having time off.
My parents drove me up yesterday afternoon, and we went out to lunch and grocery shopping before they dropped me off at my apartment (about ten minutes before my boss arrived to start work). After the boss left, I unpacked my things, and made a smoothie (because I just got my blender back after having forgotten it at home when I moved up here after summer break). It was delicious. I had another smoothie for breakfast this morning, and for lunch I made a blender broccoli cheese soup which probably would have been better if I had used a recipe instead of just tossing things into the blender that seemed they would be good in a soup. The soup turned out rather huge, since I kept tossing in different things, and in the end it became both my lunch and dinner. I could have put some in the fridge to have for lunch tomorrow instead of for two meals in a row, but it really wasn’t worth saving. Oh well - it was fun to experiment, anyway.
I also spent a few hours today music on my computer and deciding what songs to put on my mp3 player now that it can hold twice as much music (2GB instead of 1), thanks to a new memory card from my parents (another Christmas gift). Originally I had started to look through my music to find a new, non-Christmas ringtone, but I forgot about that intention until just now as I was writing this. So once this entry is posted, I’ll get back to finding a new ringtone.
For new years, I’m going to Brittni’s “Black and White New Years” party. And for new years on the blog here, I’m posting a “Year in Review!” (that is, an actual year in review, as opposed to the year in review meme I posted a few weeks ago).
January:
Began rehearsals for “Evita,” and first stages of preparation for “Naku Tsuru and the Samurai”
I found a jolly statue of an ice cream man at the old Mallard’s on my way to getting a new broken watch fixed.
I bought almost an entire new wardrobe at value village
I got a new roommate (James)
I had a prophetic vision of James moving out in a dream.
I added some new videos to NathanielJones.com
I upgraded my five-pound walking weights to 10-pound weights
I bought a blender
I discovered that Demetri Martin is hilarious
February:
Performed scene from “Twelfth Night” in THTR361 (for which I got my first A in an upper level acting class)
I went to an evening study session for Theater History and Contemporary Women Playwrights that didn’t end until it was time for the final to start the next morning.
I had a finger-painting party
I watched the two-hour finale of Arrested Development as I edited together the video “Happy Valentine’s Day, Nathaniel Jones” before going to a Valentine’s Day party that was split up by rumors of police shortly after I arrived.
I got a really sweet costume for my Tartuffe scene in 361 (for which I got my second A)
I took three facebook photo albums worth of pictures of the Evita tech/dress rehearsals
March
Performed in “Evita,” apparently the first show to sell out in the PAC in a good number of years
I lost my shoes at the Evita cast party
I got new shoes
I cut the middle out of the book “Eating Right for You” so that I could fill it with chocolate for my “Importance of Being Earnest” scene
I started a WWU theater community on livejournal. As of 12/31/06, there are two posts in it.
I wore my sweet “Tartuffe” costume around for St. Patrick’s Day, because it doubles nicely as a leprechaun.
I spent most of my spring break sick in my apartment, watching movies.
I made the sequel to “Harry Potter and the End of the Series”, “Legends of Hogwarts”
After I had recovered from my illness, I finished my spring break with a “New Pornographers” concert, bought some Kung Fu Space Pirates merchandise, and a xootr.
Once spring quarter started, we jumped straight into Naku Tsuru rehearsals
April
I was hit by a Buick (but not really – it was just an elaborate April Fools Day hoax)
I went to the wrong class one day, with hilarious consequences
I made the movie “More Beans for Me” for imoviefest
I had a calamitous fall on my xootr, but luckily I survived
I started a cartoon version of “The Harry Ape,” but in the end left it as a series of illustrations instead.
I reached the three year and 500-post mark on livejournal
I went to see “The Mikado” at the fancy theater downtown
There was a lovely bbq at the beach for Naku Tsuru
I went to a bunch of Dead Parrot shows, and began hanging out with Amalia and that crowd a bit
May
Naku Tsuru rehearsals continued, taking up the time that was not already spent on midterms and group projects
I went to an 80s Murder Mystery Prom
I was in a dance class, and learned many dances from many cultures
I discovered that I’m listed on IMDB.com
I was viciously attacked by a deadly viper named “Garter Snake”
I started rehearsals for “A Wealth of Memories”
I had an adventure getting lost in the woods with a few other geology students as we tried to find the rest of the class
We performed “Naku Tsuru”
June
My Vaudeville dance group performed for our dance class
I went to my first toga party
Naku Tsuru ended
I drew some sweet costume renderings, which would then be used for cartoon making
Senior Year #1 ended
I went to theater prom and had an interesting experience
I stayed with my brother in Olympia for a few days
I spent a weekend at the Outdoor Theater for “Anne of Green Gables”
I wrote “Snake! The Musical!” as my contribution to the “Snakes on a Plane” phenomenon
Well folks, this review is taking longer than I anticipated, so I’ll cut it off here and continue it tomorrow…or, rather, I’ll continue it *next year!*
Happy 2007, everyone!
