If I were in Austin right now, I could be in a tornado!

Apparently we’re just getting into Tornado Season - I’ve never had a Tornado Drill, so I’ll have to read up on the proper actions during one; do I duck and cover, or stand in a doorway? Do I stay indoors, or do I run outside? Where do I have to stand with my giant umbrella in order to get the most “lift?” All of these questions will have to be answered.

Today I found out that I got my apartment in Austin - I’ll be flying down / moving on on April 5th. I know my address, but I don’t yet know my apartment number, so when I find out I’ll let you all know (although not via this blog, because who knows what crazies may be reading - I’m looking at you, Lindsay Lohan.)

I thought I might be able to say in this post that “harry potter and the end of the series” had hit the 100,000 view mark, but at this point it is only up to 99,995. So then the question becomes, do I post this while it’s just below? Or do I fill in with meaningless blather until five more people view the cartoon?

Blather wins! But so as that this is not all blather, here is a lovely picture of me, taken just after I recieved my diploma (Note: that is not actually a diploma - rather, it is a fancy case that will house a diploma later on)

99,999! Oo! Exciting!

So… uh… how’s it going? Having a good spring break? Yeah? Hmm…

Boom! There it is! Harry Potter and the End of the Series has now had 100,000 Views! Woot!

This is a little intermission; my graduation ceremony was this morning, and that was pretty good (although compared to high school graduation it seemed rather anticlimatic). I got to march around in my robe and flat hat, shake hands with the president of the university, and got a fancy book thing that will house my diploma when it comes in the mail. The past few days have been good ones, though a little odd feeling. It’s strange that after nearly 18 years of going to school, I’m done. But as the days go by the idea of being out of school is growing on me.

My family came up to Bellingham last night and got most of my things packed, and we got the last of it loaded up after the ceremony was over. Once I was checked out of Birnam Wood, we hopped in the cars and headed south. We stopped for a graduation day dinner at the Claim Jumper (my traditional celebratory restaurant), and now I’m back in Federal Way until I have an apartment to move into in Austin.

That point is fast approaching - I’ve been e-mailing back and forth with a few people trying to find the best place, and I’ve pretty well settled on a big one bedroom (with a study) in South Austin, near a couple parks and things, and only three miles away from 6th Street (the main drag of Austin Entertainment). It is the more expensive of the apartments I was looking at, but it’s pretty huge and in the hip zip code. Tonight I filled out the application for it - hopefully nobody has snatched it up between two days ago and now. If i get that one, I’ll be moving in on April 5th. So if you’re in the Federal Way area (or not too far from there) and want to see me before I head off to Texas let me know.

And now a Very Important Parable that I think you all should read, and learn a life lesson from:

Once upon a time, there was a man named Ted Shuss. One day, Ted was walking across the street when he noticed that his shoes were untied, so he leaned down and began to tie them. Unfortunately, since he was leaning down and tying his shoes, he did not see the bus coming straight at him, and so he was run over.

The moral of this story: never, ever, ever tie your shoes.

I am now a college graduate!

This week I have:
Recorded all the dialogue for my old time radio show
written two new scenes and three new songs for my musical
worked crew for God and Devil four times
told some jokes at a stand-up comedy event
gotten over being sick
and if that’s not enough, I went to class every single day. How bout that?

I am sick nor a hünd.

To alleviate the sickness, I picked up some day and nyQuil, only to discover that just as I had heard rumoured, it really doesn’t work as well now that they’ve taken out the pseudoephedrine (the ingredient that can be used in the production of crystal meth). Boo to meth heads and boo to Vick (as it is Vick’s DayQuil) for taking away my precious pseudoephedrine!

This week I’m recording my radio show (”Darrell Hall’s Thoughts” AKA “The Dream.”) for my senior project. I had hoped to get my part recorded today, but my voice is rubbish, so it’ll have to wait till I’m sounding better. I’ve been playing with my recording software, though, and have found some cool effects to use for the ghostly voices. And, everyone I asked to be in it agreed, so I have a sweet all-star cast: Me, Crystal Brooks, Mike Tilton, Megan Jackson, and Cail Dunnohowtospellhislastname. Should be a good show. Unfortunately there will be no live reading of it that an audience could attend, but you’ll be able to hear it either on a CD or mp3 once I finish with the recording and editing.

Tonight is my one night off (the devil plays are running Tuesday through Sunday), so luckily I’ll be able to go to bed early and rest up and not be sick. Because without pseudoephedrine, being sick just isn’t any fun.

This Friday I’ll be presenting some Comedy Jokes along with the Western Jesters in the Highland something-or-other. The whole thing goes from 7:30-9pm, with 15 minutes of that starring me. If I can find out which 15 minutes, I’ll let you know.
